It's been 6 months since Artstation Challenge started and it's finally ready. From the beginning, I understood that I wanted to do more than I was able to handle in two months, so I made two versions: one for the AS challenge and a final one, which I'm glad to publish here.
The original idea was taken from the artwork of David VDB, which was made for the first part of the challenge.
However, my desire was to expand this idea to a "Subnautica-style" crash site and work more with hard-surface forms. Our player is assumed to explore nature around the landing zone on a distant planet and find out if this planet is interesting for our civilization.
The terrain was generated in Houdini and then recreated in Unreal Engine with a Houdini Digital Asset. Then I used a pretty standard pipeline with some variations. The materials are compilations of solutions from all around the Internet.
The detailed breakdown can be found here:
I'd like to thank everyone who gave me feedback during all this time, especially my mentor Sergey Panin. I really appreciate his patience, seriously. 6 months, guys.

And of course, I'm looking forward to knowing what you think about the mood and the work in general!
